Education for Global Citizenshiptick

Education for Global citizenship is about bringing an international dimension into the classroom. The DfE has published a document called Putting the World into World-Class Education, highlighting the importance of teaching children to 'live in and contribute effectively to a global society', and the need for 'instilling a strong global dimension into the learning experiences of all children and young people'.

Education for Global Citizenship is not an additional subject to squeezed into a crowded timetable, but should be seen to be at the very heart of education, impacting the whole school ethos and curriculum.

Direct contact with a school in Uganda can enhance children's understanding of global development issues; bring a wide range of personal issues to life and provide exciting opportunities for learning: adding an international element to learning in schools can dramatically improve the quality of education.
